Alexander Sutulov

Director, Resources LUNARIS 2025 | Founding Member, Space Resources Commission, Chilean Mining Engineering Institute (IIMCh) | Director, FOUR CORNER :: LAND PROJECT & IntiMERIKA Initiative

Alexander Sutulov (b. 1962, Concepción, Chile) is a trailblazing visual artist and multidisciplinary leader whose work fuses art, science, and cultural heritage to redefine resource utilization on Earth and in space. As a founding member of the Space Resources Commission at the Chilean Mining Engineering Institute (IIMCh), he harnesses Chile’s mining prowess to propel South America into the space economy. Directing Resources LUNARIS 2025, he spearheads a landmark seminar (April 21-22, 2025, Santiago, Chile) with Atelier Alexander Sutulov and RedMinera, forging a southern hemisphere space agency and partnerships with nations like the USA, Japan, and Luxembourg.

Sutulov’s FOUR CORNER :: LAND PROJECT explores the ancestral symbiosis of the Americas’ Four Corners: in North America, the Southwest (Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico) with over 50,000 archaeological sites, mirrors South America’s convergence of Peru and Bolivia (north) with Chile and Argentina (south). This ethnographic initiative decodes Pre-Columbian technologies—like Tiwanaku geopolymers—to inspire sustainable space strategies, yielding installations for ZOCO Santiago and airports across these regions. His IntiMERIKA initiative, featuring the “Children of the Light” mural from the Kaikai Tenten Series at Hotel Mercure, Santiago, unites the Americas’ hemispheres, blending indigenous knowledge with modern resources (copper, lithium, solar) for a cohesive environmental economy.

A key ESG and sociocultural panelist at Resources LUNARIS 2025, Sutulov pushes for an inclusive framework reflecting First Nations’ wisdom, tackling over 383 mining conflicts along the Continental Divide. His art amplifies this vision: the “Mural of All Worlds” at the University of Santiago merges Einstein’s Gravitational Wave Theory with Neruda’s Alturas de Machu Picchu, while his Hieroglyphic Project at CasaMolle (Elqui Valley) produced 38+ limited-edition works. Iconic projects like “The Andes: Vertical Column of America” (2010, Sala GASCO) and “Key Black: Gráfica del Sur” (Japan, Korea, Taiwan) cement his global influence.

Trained at Santiago’s Institute of Contemporary Art and the University of Utah, Sutulov has led Atelier Alexander Sutulov since 1994, creating works like the “Chilean Mining History Mural Project” and “Gasco Energy Sculpture Project.” His fusion of digital artistry, engineering, and cultural insight makes him a pivotal figure bridging Earth’s heritage and humanity’s cosmic frontier.
